OK – It’s time to hit the prep for SY 2015-2016 harder. My “last-get-away-of-the-summer” ended this evening, my summer reading for pleasure is back-burnered, and I will get to bed at a reasonable time tonight!
Middle school starts this week for my daughter while my son begins high school two weeks from tomorrow. My wife and I have our first in-service a week from this Friday. My, how the summer has flown!
So, it’s time for me to try to post quite a few “starting school” links that I’ve captured. As you’re prepping for your soon-to-begin 2015-2016, pause for a few minutes to get inspired by this awesome video by Key and Peele.
A blogger on Patheos has this take on the video and it’s significance.
And the business themed Quartz, features the video and asks an important “what if” question along with these facts:
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, public school teachers in the US made an average salary of $56,383 during the 2012-2013 academic year.Compare to the average salaries of professional baseball athletes ($3.82 million during the 2014 season), professional basketball athletes ($4.9 million for the 2013-14 season), and professional football players ($2 million for the 2013 season). Even the minimum salaries for all three professional sports leagues—ranging from just over $400,000 to $500,000—leave the highest-paid American public school teachers in the dust.
