It’s Sunday of the MLK Holiday weekend and I am finally getting back to posting here.
I do enjoy posting and I appreciate those of you who’ve continued to read (and “like”) posts here – even if they aren’t particularly new when you read them.
As I’ve watched (and participated) in the Sunday mass from St. Columba’s Church in Oakland, CA, I’ve been reading short answers from my Juniors (on their quarter final exam) regarding a Saint with whom they relate.
The mass celebrated Reverend King in important ways and I’ll try to write about him tomorrow after I celebrate, in my local community, his birthday.
I do want to share this video here, filmed the night before he was assassinated in Memphis, TN on April 4, 1968.

I’m on a bit of a mission to make sure that others see and hear the power of Reverend King’s final public words before his death at just thirty-nine years old.
I do this b/c never in my early studies did I encounter this sermon. In fact, I only got to know of it in the mid-1990’s when the band U2 would play it at concerts during their powerful “Pride (In the Name of Love.)

From MLK to the holy men and women beatified and canonized by the Catholic Church:
I had my students get to know this set of saints, with feast days between September and December, that I call the Divine Dozen.
You’ll see below, in order from least frequently to most frequently cited, as the saint to which my Juniors “most relate.”
